CASE STUDY: a customer problem solved... quickly!
At the beginning of the year I popped in to see a local business who had a VoIP compatible system. They had been sold a similar system by BT that still had ISDN2 lines. It was supposedly 2025 VOIP ready, but was no different to what they already had, so no valid reason to change the system. I left my card.
They recently suffered a network outage on both ISDN lines meaning calls were not getting through and ringing to Number Unobtainable..
The service provider was unresponsive to any assistance.
The lines were working Friday PM but no service on Monday morning.
Being a roofing company and having a couple of recent storms enquiries via the phones should have been red hot. They weren’t, nothing at all.
They remembered my visit from earlier in the year and contacted me.
I was emailed when working nearby and tried to ring them (but not knowing they had suffered an outage couldn’t get through) so decided to call in.
I saw the Director and suggested I could migrate them to VoIP as this would get him back in service quickly.
A site survey was completed whilst I was there and a written quote was with them that afternoon.
The Director gave their current service provider until the end of Wednesday to come back with a response.
Receiving no communication or support from them, and losing business as he had no working phones, he placed his order with me.
The costly situation was rectified very quickly, with superior reliability and services, as follows:
- I ordered the equipment to be delivered directly to the site and added his outbound number to his account.
- I programmed everything off site and created a temporary inbound divert number giving him back the ability to take phone calls and business enquiries.
- Once I had the set up programmed ready a site visit was made to set up the handsets and provide training on features this included voicemail to email.
- The number was over and I has the benefit that I can monitor and make changes remotely as the customer requires and I receive email Alerts immediately should there be any loss of service.
- Previously any issues would require calling the service provider and requesting the number be transferred to the Directors mobile, which in this last incident took them over a week. With the new set up, if there was an outage, calls are routed automatically to the Directors mobile.
- The old technology allowed two calls on two numbers meaning busy tone was always a limiting factor if the office was busy.
- Now this is not as restricted as all handsets can make and receive two calls.
- Previously the customer paid for caller ID which was never implemented properly so they were being charged monthly for something that didn't work. Plus if they wrote down a number wrong that contact was lost.
- With the Hosted VoIP solution the caller ID is working, is free of charge and gives full caller history at the touch of a button.
- The system is fully portable and scalable on a rolling 30 day contract.
- A mobile app can be setup for remote working that mirrors the desk phone or users can simply take their desk phone and power supply home with them to work remotely giving more flexibility.
Result: A more efficient, reliable and robust system, installed and operational swiftly and with ease, and a happy customer who's phone is ringing again!
